Preschool and Kindergarten Department
History of Our School
The first kindergarten was established in the Maçka campus in 1982 with two teachers providing education to 5-6-year-old children. It implemented a mixed-gender education model. In the Ayazağa campus, the kindergarten was established in 1985 with a capacity of 10 children and two teachers. Our current Nursery and Kindergarten was opened in 1990 during the tenure of Rector Prof. Dr. İlhan KAYAN with the support of ESKA company to provide care and education services to 20 children. Later, the capacity was increased by adding the 0-3 age group, and in 2005, three more classes were added to accommodate more children.
ITU Kindergartens provide care and education services in both the Maçka and Ayazağa campuses. In 2017, our new building in the Ayazağa campus started providing services. The building, along with activity areas such as a music room, playroom, multipurpose hall, intelligence games room, library, and garden play area, offers education with nine classrooms. In our Maçka campus kindergarten, there are also five classrooms along with the mentioned areas.
ITU Kindergarten aims to provide care and education to the children of academic and administrative personnel, as well as workers employed at our university, in accordance with the requirements of child education science. By doing so, it aims to create a safer working environment for parents and increase the productivity of their workforce, in addition to caring for and educating the children.
