Istanbul Technical University provides its students with comfortable, peaceful, modern, high-standard dormitories when they come from outside the city. Our dormitories, built with the support of our valued alumni, are located in the Ayazağa, Gümüşsuyu, and Tuzla campuses. Currently, our University has 13 dormitories, totaling 16 buildings, under the Directorate of Health, Culture, and Sports. Two of these buildings are located on the city campus.
Our dormitories consist of single, double, triple, and quadruple rooms. The dormitory buildings feature study areas, laundry, ironing, and television rooms, kitchens, telephones, internet, security, and cleaning facilities.

A total of 3,683 students reside in our dormitories, including 2,035 male and 1,648 female students. Unlike other units, life and services continue 24 hours a day. The services provided to our students are offered 24/7 by 15 administrative staff, 11 technical staff (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, heating engineers, painters), and 130 cleaning and reception staff.
Who Can Benefit from Our Dormitories?
Our dormitories accommodate undergraduate and graduate students of our university and foreign students who come to our university for education and training. Students who apply to stay in our university dormitories benefit from the dormitories for the duration of their normal study period, while those who enter the dormitory in intermediate grades benefit from the dormitories for the remainder of their study period. At the end of the semester, students must renew their registration to stay for the next semester.
Dormitory Fees:
Accommodation in dormitories is fee-based, and these fees are determined by our university's Board of Directors. Different dormitory fees are charged depending on the physical structure and accommodation conditions of the dormitory. A certain amount of deposit is collected, depending on the characteristics of the dormitory, to cover dormitory fees not paid on time or any damage caused by students in the dormitory. Room Furnishings:
Each student staying in our dormitories is provided with standard items such as a bed, sheets, bedding set, pillow, pillowcase, blanket, and duvet.
Room Furniture:
All rooms are equipped with the following items as standard for each student: a desk, bookshelf, wardrobe, bed, chair, and, in some dormitories, a telephone. In private rooms, additional items such as a refrigerator, electric stove, and water heater may also be available.
Internet:
Internet network connection is standard in our rooms. Our students can benefit from the web service provided by the ITU Information Processing Department for a fee.
Telephone:
All our rooms have internal telephones (except Ayazağa Girls' Dormitory and Vadi Dormitories) and pay phones are available at the dormitory entrances. Our students can be called directly from outside. There is an announcement system in the İMKB Dormitories and Ayazağa Girls' Dormitory.
Heating:
All interior spaces of our dormitories are heated with natural gas, and hot water is available 24 hours a day.
Drinking Water:
In all our dormitories, students' water needs are met with 19-liter bottles, which are provided free of charge for their use.
Laundry / Dry Cleaning Services:
All our dormitories are equipped with washing machines, dryers, and irons. In addition, all bedding sets, duvets, pillows, blankets, and mattress covers in the dormitories are washed and distributed.
Luggage Storage Rooms:
Our dormitories have secure Luggage Storage Rooms where students can store any extra items they may bring with them for a certain period of time.
Cleaning:
The general cleaning of all our dormitories is carried out by private cleaning companies with ISO 9001:2000 Quality System Certification in accordance with health and hygiene regulations.
Reception Services:
To ensure security in our dormitories, our dormitory staff work in cooperation with our university security 24 hours a day in each building. In addition, camera systems have been installed at the entrances of IMKB dormitories. Work is ongoing to gradually implement this system in other buildings as well. Since dormitories are communal living spaces, dormitory staff frequently encounter social incidents (fights, theft, occupation, health issues, etc.). Dormitory directors and administrative staff work to ensure internal building security, health, peace, and discipline. For this reason, administrative staff are on duty even on weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
