Yoga is a system and lifelong path that can fulfill all the needs for a person to be truly healthy and peaceful. It is applicable for every age, all types of health and weight conditions, and every profession. It can be adapted to different situations based on the body's needs. The following is a brief description of the yoga classes offered by our instructor Ferda Öktem, within the Physical Education Department:
Foundations of Yoga
This class is designed for beginners and focuses on establishing the foundations of yoga. It explores basic yoga poses and small series to align the body, investigate the relationship between breath and body, and learn how to create personal practices. The class consists of three levels: Foundations of Yoga 1, Foundations of Yoga 2, and Foundations of Yoga 3. Each level spans at least one month.
Hatha Yoga
These classes are suitable for intermediate and experienced practitioners who have completed the foundations of yoga. They include progressions and adaptations in postures based on different levels and body types. The classes consist of four levels that build upon each other.
Restorative Yoga (Open to participants of all levels)
This class aims to help you release the fatigue and stress of the day while facilitating relaxation and exploration of your inner center and potential. It serves as a gentle introduction to strength building.
Breathing Practices and Meditation (Recommended for individuals who have completed the foundations of yoga)
Yoga practice involves a flowing meditation with movements and breath. Meditation, on the other hand, involves sitting in a stable position without movement. It is recommended for those who have received basic yoga training, as it can be challenging for beginners to remain motionless for extended periods or sit in a correct spinal posture. In these classes, you will learn fundamental breathing exercises, the understanding of meditation, and body awareness. Attention in these classes expands beyond the body, leading to a deeper journey. Through breathing practices and meditation, your mind starts to clear and rejuvenate. Your health and sleep quality improve, and you become more focused and productive in your daily tasks. Additionally, the muscles involved in breathing become stronger through the applied breathing practices, enhancing your overall quality of life.
